from Office Max Model Reviewed: 875DC Summary: I picked up this printer at Office Max right after they knocked $120 off the price (actually had to get the employees to check their website, because they had it marked $299 still). I took it home, and since it was my first USB printer had to buy a $20 USB cable. Before I bought the printer I had read some things about the lightfastness of the ink/paper so to test it, I printed out a 4x6" photo of my son taken with my Kodak DC3200 and hung it in my cubicle at my night job, it's been two weeks now of that flourescent light for about 20 hours a day, no frame and nothing has happened. It takes about 1 minute for a 4x6" high quality from the time I press print to the time it's finished. The printer is quiet, except when you install a new cartidge then it sounds like satan has taken it over. Which brings me to another item, consumables, I did tons of research on this printer versus the HP Photosmart 1000 and for $120 less I bought this one, but check to see if you can get the ink locally I found it at Office Depot for $20.21 with tax for a color cartridge. The ink carts it uses are only compaitble with three models of EPSON printers according to the box, I thought that price was cheap enough and while you won't be getting 80 8x10's out of one cartridge you will get a pretty good yield and at that price it's hard to beat (online I found some places that sell the carts for $17 or so). Strengths: Quiet, fast, integrated card reader, not too expensive to operate. Weaknesses: Not professional quality photo's but most people don't examine pictures that closely.
