Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $250.00 from Future Shop,Brossard

Year / Model Reviewed:
1998 Kenwood KAC-746 4ch.amplifier

Summary:
Multi-configuration possibilities.Square size model, medium size.Built in Mexico not China or Taiwan.Excellent quality in-ternal parts, internal assembly excellent. Can be compared to Alpine or Eclipse for craftsmanship but with less power.More power when bridged than 1998 JVC models like KS-AX504.

Strengths:
Classy look, soft shiny aluminium, small ribs on top.Medium size, square model.Easy to fit in small cars.Soft turn-on.Heavy aluminium casing.Multi-cables configura- tions with gold-plated terminals/screws. No push-in connectors.Variable crossovers Low power consuming;can use 10 gauge wire for main power. No internal fan to blew dust inside the amplifier.Same features like the 96/98 KAC-846 model but in smal- ler size

Weaknesses:
No bass boost.Lost 5 watts RMS per chan- nel in 1996 compared to KAC-745/KAC-749s in 2001.Kenwood went back to 40w/ch RMS for this mid-sized model

Similar Products Used:
1996 to 1998 mid-size JVC KS-AX504,Pio- neer GMX324 and later models

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $300.00

Summary:
For the money this amp does what i wantit to do for sure..

Strengths:
The amp plays loud, clear, with absolutely no distortion at high levels.

Weaknesses:
It was not as crisp on the high end as my previous amp.{sony 3040}

Similar Products Used:
Sony 3040, lanzar 100.2, The lanzar had my headlight dimming, and i had it hooked up to my high end speakers...it pulled to much power. The sony was a little more defining with the highs.

Review 5 of 5

Summary:
I use this amp to run a set of mb quart components bridged, and they sould fantastic. It puts out 100 watts to each component and they play very loud and crisp without distorting. I would recommend this amp to run front speakers or all four front and rear speakers but not to run any subs.

Strengths:
very good amp to run a set of components bridged or 4 small speakers.
very good on the pocket book for the power

Weaknesses:
Don't try running sub off it because they will not hit that hard.
No bass boost adjustment
