from Garage Sale Summary: I walked my wife out to her car in our driveway one Sat. morning, while giving her a hug before she headed off to work I noticed my neighbor was having a garage sale. There was 2 sets of stereo speakers amogst the tools and furniture.
as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes I recognized the Sansui speaker grilles, I hurried across the street and there they were SPX 9000"S with a $50 price sticker! ! ! ! ! ! He hooked them up, They worked, Here's yer fifty bucks. took them home to my Marantz 2275.................Had the cops at my house by 10:30 A.M.
Had a new years party my brother in law bugged me for a solid hour to sell him those speakers. NO WAY he offered me $300 and I told him NO. Despite having the garage door closed the cops were called out 3 times that night and someone threw tomatoes at my garage door at 1:00 A.M. I set these up in my back yard for a party and drove 3 blocks away and it sounded like a live band was playing. My 75 watt per channel Marantz drives these things hard enough to induce hearing loss. I couldn't imagine a better speaker for my application. The occasional Lynrd Skynerd fix, or when someone forgets who's got the Baddest tunes on the block. Strengths: Still going strong after almost 30 years! ! ! ! ! The highs are incredible, the multiple horns just scream. Even my Walsh tweeter equipped Infinity WTLS's are no match.
The 16" woofers get the job done occasionally i will let my son hook up his Ipod for supervised rap music sessions. If you have the means to really drive these things your neighbors will definitely know when you feel the need, to make your ears bleed. Weaknesses: If there are any it is not apparent to me, although I would not reccomend these to someone living in apartments as eviction may result from their use. Similar Products Used: Hpm 100's , Ess's with the crazy looking tweeter's on top. And my Infinity WTLS's which are now relegated to easy listening duties only.
