Review 1 of 8

Price Paid:  $150.00 from Cruthchfield

Summary:
These speakers are everything you'd want in a bookshelf speaker. I use them for surround speakers with my Dolby Digital and DTS home theater. I'm also using the SM Video center speaker and closely matched EPI main speakers for great rap-around sound. Sound is clear and precise with no distortion mostly due to a well powered receiver. They sound great for music listening and can handle high volumes.

Strengths:
For the money they are more then I would expect from bookshelf speakers. They can handle 100W no problem and sound great when volumes are turned up loud.

Weaknesses:
There are no complaints considering that these should not be used as main speakers.

Similar Products Used:
Advent, EPI

FIRST OFF these guys who are calling themselves "audiophiles" have no clue. If you are using infinity SM series or even Ref. series and an infinity sub YOU ARE NOT AN AUDIOPHILE your probably using a Sony receiver right YOU ARE NOT AN AUDIOPHILE. Now that that is oput of the way You can't complain about bass from a book shelf speaker. IF you put them in a book shelf then you would notice they produce great bass even boomy if you will. They are designed to shoot bass at an enclosure behind them hence the rear firing port the same idea as a down firing sub. I have them in my garage and they sound great I would even venture to say that they sound better then lots of speakers at double there price. NOW if you want to know why it works then open your physics books and look up the phrase "pie squared". AGAIN YOUR NOT AN AUDIOPHILE IF YOU USE INFINITY SM OR RS SERIES AND CANT FIGURE OUT WHY YOU DONT HAVE ANY BASS.

Strengths:
VALUE put the in a book shelf like they are designed to be and you get great bass

Weaknesses:
none at the price point

Similar Products Used:
polk, bose, Vienna Acoustic, Sonus Faber (though the last 2 not nearly in the same price range)

Summary:
in terms of the price( 149.00 a pair from crutchfield) these speakers deliver nice bass and fairly good highs, blows the RS-3's away in terms of price and sounds basically the same. I have two pairs of these speakers, good for main speakers in a small room, but in a large room they need to be as rears because of the lack of a midrange.fairly good frequency response( 78- 20kHz), I recommend these speakers for home theater, but not really for music because, once again, the lack of a midrange.

Strengths:
price,clear sound

Weaknesses:
needs a 4-5 inch midrange

Similar Products Used:
AR- can't remember the series, infinity RS series

Summary:
These speakers are great. Although they are small in size but they can be really loud and still produce a clear and smooth sound. For $37 each at Ubid, you can't go wrong. Great for main speaker in a small room or as surround speaker. Better than many higher priced speaker i have heard, and definitely better than Infinity RS series. Highly recomended.
