Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $65.00 from ebay

Summary:
A friend of mine had a 250$ MD player he bought in europe, and mine actually sounds better! not to mention i only paid 65 dollars for it from an auction on ebay. the battery life is pretty impressive, much better than almost ANY cd player, and it actually produces some of the best sound i've heard from a portable unit. I like my music, and sometimes need the bass, in that case the bass boost really helps and makes a great adjustment, only that it drains some battery-life, pretty bad. but i can deal. the unit is very good looking even, with pretty rugged construction, i've beat it around college, and never had it skip or scuff. probably one of my best purchases!!!
i highly recommend you try and get yourself one of these if you just wanna bum some excellent tunes around some place.

Strengths:
Excellent sound, easy to use, very small, wired remote, nice looks.

Weaknesses:
None that i can find so far, besides that it's not a recordable one.

Review 2 of 3

Summary:
This is a wonderful little unit. Construction is strong (with the exception of the AVLS + mega bass buttons) and the sound is fantastic. Battery consumption is great with one AA battery lasting over 5 hours.
Pros - Rugged construction, multi-function wired remote, great sound.
Cons - small plastic buttons (for mega bass and AVLS), and no carrying case.

Purchased with the Sony's MD-5 bundle (Minidisc player MZ-EP11 + MiniDisc Deck MDS-JE320) for 198.00

Review 3 of 3

Summary:
I bought an MZ-EP11 this summer to go with my JE510 and I am very happy with it. It has a nice, wired remote control althought the buttons and display are
quite small (by necessity, of course). I'm very happy with the low power
consumption (1-AA battery lasts at least six hours of play) and relative, but not
absolute, shock resistance. My EP11 does skip occasionally in the car and when
it does it takes about three seconds for it to regain its bearings. I'm not a heavy
bass person so I don't use the bass boost circuit...I find it to be too boomy. The
EP11 is fairly rugged but it is a delicate piece of equipment; that is to say it wouldn't
withstand the abuse you can put a Motorola two-way radio or a Fluke multimeter through.
Sound quality is excellent...on a par with the JE510.
