Price Paid:  $237.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
I purchased the unit and found the recording transport did not function well at all right out of the box. When I took it back they offered me a replacement. However, the replacement would have been an open boxed item. They checked with four other nearby stores and found only open boxed items. I felt this was a bad sign so requested my money back. Philips should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such a poor mechanically flawed product. I decided to try a TDK DA 5900 and so far so good. The sound quality exceeded my expectations. At 1x's or 2x's speed the copies are indistinguishable from the original. It is very easy to operate and both transport drives are quiet. It has only been a few weeks and a dozen recordings but it looks like a big winner.

Strengths:
Don't know since it was pretty much DOA.

Weaknesses:
Poor mechanical quality.
