Review 1 of 7

Price Paid:  $389.00 from Online

Summary:
Bought this online after not having a Turntable since I sold my Linn in the mid eighties. I have to admit I bought it for the looks as much as anything as I think it looks great. I have a Goldring 1042 cartridge and after about three weeks of running in, the setup is producing a great warm sound with more detail than I can ever remember the Sondek producing. I also listened to a Rega P3 before buying this deck, and wasn't impressed. I think the Rega has a un-natural synthetic tonal quality. Some people may like it but I think the audio press is responsible for colouring peoples judgement about the Rega's. I'm using the Project in my system wich is Adcom 555 Mk II preamp Adcom 545 Mk II Power Amp Adcom GCD 575 With a modified Audio Alchemy DAC in The Box DAC. With Theta digital TLC. Interconnects/Speaker wire QED silver anniversary. Acoustic Energy AE1's on AE Stands.

Strengths:
Easy to use, great sound.

Weaknesses:
Setup manual not very good.

Similar Products Used:
Rega P3, Thorends TD166

Review 2 of 7

Price Paid:  $700.00 from Fa Stöhr

Summary:
CAVE: i dont know, if the model 6 described here is the same as in the reviews before, cause its a model, which was released in 2002 and not before. this review is about the nice round thing, grey, lool on the project homepage for a picture!!!! (www.project-audio.net) now the review: as a newcomer to vinyl, the owner of a quite good equipment for years i like this piece. compared to my Sony JA 50 ES cd- player it shows no weaknesses, its different in its way to reproduce music. its features are spartanic, no automatic anywhere, the design is very nice, a plate, rotating on an axe, which is covered by the wholly by the plate. as a reviewer mentioned his problems before, i have to say, unless im satisfied now, i had some problems too with the first i got, it was excentric, the driving plate underneath the big one had 2mm wobble, easy to see only by rotating it slowly by hand. but my dealer made no discussion about it, neither the producer, i got a new one within a week with no failure i found after 2 months. i would buy it again.

Strengths:
nice design, sound compared to a not realy cheap CD- player is different, but comparable good

Weaknesses:
first model was not awardwinning (see above!)

Similar Products Used:
2 turntables listened by friends, better then the cheaper one, similar to a much higher prized, 20 year old model from thorens

Review 3 of 7

Price Paid:  $400.00 from Hifi Store

Summary:
This turntable is probably not the answer to the ultimate turntable but it is the answer to the ultimate budget turntable. This turntable with the right cartridge (for example the Sumiko Blue Point)is better than any CD, SACD or DVD-audio player at the same pricelevel. I haven´t been an vinyl enthusiast before, but I am now. I can simply say: Buy it!

Strengths:
Everything

Weaknesses:
none except for the tonearm, here the Regas are better

Similar Products Used:
Rega Planar 3

Review 4 of 7

Price Paid:  $220.00 from Used

Summary:
The reviewer that called it a poor mans Oracle was right. This is the most valuable product I have ever seen (heard).
Both the Bass and the treble is very well defined. The separation of instruments are marvelous. The vocalists voices are presented very stable and distinct. This product is amazing. Lichtenegger is a genious.

Strengths:
It plays music with a finesse that only several times more expensive players can do.

Weaknesses:
Nothing so far

Similar Products Used:
Dual 505, B&O, Rega planar 3

Review 5 of 7

Summary:
Pro-Ject 6
One word best describes the latest Pro-Ject turntable: Junk. It looks impressive until you switch it on. Then the platter wobbles and bounces all over the place. Measurements confirm it was out by more than 2.mm. It just makes you wonder how a factory could produce such a cheap item and then try and sell it as an audiophile product! If the platter is bad, then the tone arm comes in a close second. Adjustments are something out of the dark ages with little weights, levers and fishing line. Sound? Well, if you take into account all the movement it can and does play records but this thing is a sloppy toy and makes a CD look like refreshing alturnative....

The first one I purhcased didn't even work. There was something wrong with the motor. The store I bought it from gave me a replacement. I wish I had gotten my money back.
