Review 1 of 37

Price Paid:  $70.00 from Marktplaats.nl

Summary:

This is my second 7070, had one earlier but sold it because I needed
the money. Glad I have it back because of the very nice sound qualities
and the good seventies analogue design.

Strengths:
Cristal clear sound, enough power, nice design.

Weaknesses:
Small volume knob, bad loudness switch, display lights

Similar Products Used:
Pioneer QX 949, SX 7730, Sansui G6700, AU 7900

Review 2 of 37

Price Paid:  $65.00 from E-Bay

Summary:
A year ago I purchased a Sansui 7070 Stereo receiver on E-Bay. This MAMOUTH produces a clear sound and rumbles the walls at home. I am very pleased with this product and back then they knew how to make a great product that will outlast the new generations of receivers. You can not kill this BEAST. It is a classy stereo piece with its wood grain cabinet and sharp looking gadgets. Never would I sell this unit, again they do not make them like this anymore. If you are looking for exceptional strong sound and quality, this is THE ONE.

Strengths:
Produces Earthquaking Power A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Weaknesses:
NONE

Review 4 of 37

Price Paid:  $260.00 from Frankfurt Audio Club

Summary:
I have owned a Sansui 7070 Receiver since 1977. Upon bringing it back to my barracks (I was in the army stationed in Germany) a friend wanted to hook up his brand new Bose 501's. To make a long story short, we ended up causing his 501's to catch fire. fortunately, they were under warranty. The years havent mellowed the beast. It'll still remove your windows (and body hair if you get too close). I recently had her gone through for serious cleaning. she sounds like new. My wife has had to tell me to "turn it down!" four times in two days...I have the original Sansui SP-X7000 speakers and the whole thing has stood the test of time. I'm looking for another one that's reasonably priced for a back-up..not that \I would =ever need it though because it's built to last forever.

Strengths:
Pure raw undiluted power across the audio spectrum, built like a tank, crystal clear even at volume.

Weaknesses:
the lights...but that ain't any problem, they are easy to replace

Similar Products Used:
Pioneer VS-X 502..But the only similarity is the fact that they're both receivers. My Sansui is back!

Review 5 of 37

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Found it

Summary:
I was driving down my alley one night and found the 7070 on top of a garbage can, took it home and fired it up. Cool it worked, but it needed the controls cleaned and and the left channel was cutting out. Being an electronic tech this was no biggie, cleaned it up , removed the left output transistors cleaned the oxidation off the leads tossed some new heat sink grease on them. Fired it up and the left channel problem was gone. Then I did a realignment of the tuner stages since aging components can cause allignment to drift.I was very impressed by the sensitivity and selectivity of the Fm tuner. I live in a large city with local 50kw transmitters 8 miles from me. This receiver can receive stations from 200 miles away with adjacents on each side, with an outdoor antenna I built. I have a Marantz 2238b that I bought new in the 70's since it had such a great tuner, but this thing puts it to shame. Audio quality is very good although it can't keep up with my Carver for true power from 1989. I don't think anything today can touch the tuner. Digital displays may seem nice, but nothing beat's an analog for selectivity. If you can get this Sansui it's highly recommended, Built like a Tank!

Strengths:
One of the best Fm Tuners I've seen, Darn good audio quality, decent power.

Weaknesses:
If your into very loud listning levels more power is needed for headroom and dynamics.

Similar Products Used:
Carver AVR-1000, Sony Str-D715, Marantz 2238b
