Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $1.00 from Ebay auction

Summary:
Sherwood is old school. Ther new sherwood stuff is under name targam but this review is for old school Sherwood. I've got 20 years experience repairing electronics includiong car amps. Ive seen alot of amps in all different sizes and the sherwood line are very strong and versatile usually capable of 2,3,4 channels with Xover and independant channel level controls. The amps are not the best out there but for the money is you can find one you wont be disappointed. As for what others say about Sherwood being over rated - LOL, being a repairman I know what transistor power are installed in them and the RMS ratings stamped on the top of Sherwood is actual not peak like the cheapies the kids are buying today.

Strengths:
2,3,4 channel capable with 4 channel level control, Xover, newer ones come with fans, heavy duty heat sink.

Weaknesses:
Older ones have no fans

Similar Products Used:
I've used most of them and repaired them and sold them, but I keep the sherwood goodies for my good buds.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $50.00 from eBay

Summary:
Great amp! Pushed my pair of Rockford Fosgate Power subs(the ones with them huge chrome magnets and 4" voice coils). It was powerful enough to make them flutter although Rockford claims them to handle 600W RMS and 1200 Peak. This amp runs really clean and strong and I highly recommend anyone to get their hands on one. I also own a XAT-440Q and that thing is a beast! Both amps are my collector's items and would love to find more of these. Don't let the name fool you because these are old amps and are not really well known.

Strengths:
Dual cooling fans, hardly ever shuts off! Great sleek design and simple setup design.

Weaknesses:
"Sherwood" name on top of amp is too large and need to remove "300 Watts" off the amp. It makes it look like it's a cheap amp like the Pyramids.

Similar Products Used:
A/D/S, Carver, Harman/Kardon...all the old school amps. Better than Rockford for being more versatile, clarity, and less power hungry.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Friend

Summary:
This Sherwood amp is large, but has the power to compensate for it's size. It is a very simple amp. With the essentials for a 4 channel amp; SUB EQ, and Parallel Input. I used this amp to power a 12" sub(capable of handling 100W RMS), and it's 170W RMS output was certainly enough to burn the speaker. Only at half power, the speaker was having trouble not bottoming out. People say sherwood is a crappy name brand, distorts, and over-rates it's products. But apparently those people know nothing. I searched for Sherwood online, and there isn't much about the company, they are very rare, and this is my first time in contact with them. Perhaps those people are thinking of Sherwood hockey sticks? ;o) Anyways, I just know this is a great amp, and it's worth the money.

Black Venom.....

Strengths:
Has good power, full range of sound. Solid construction, solid electronics. Good quality. Has SUB EQ.

Weaknesses:
If hooked up to a tweeter, it has a high pitch hiss if the channel sensitivity is too high. Doesn't have a built in crossover.

Summary:
This is a very powerful amplifier and gives great sound. The size fits most midi hi-fi seperates. It also gives quality bass and a good range of sound, high to low.
